The right size depends on ceiling height and room proportions. Start by measuring from floor to ceiling. Subtract at least 20 to 30 centimeters to leave space for a tree topper and to prevent the tree from touching the ceiling.

For standard living rooms, trees between 180 cm and 210 cm are often a safe choice. In rooms with higher ceilings, a 240 cm tree can create more impact. If your living room is compact, a slim or pencil shaped tree can give you height without taking up too much floor space.

Also consider how much space you need to move around the tree. A very wide tree may look impressive but can make a room feel crowded. In smaller spaces, balance matters more than height.

When in doubt, use painter’s tape on the wall to outline the height and width of the tree. This gives you a realistic sense of scale before you buy.
